Dermapen 4 Derma MicropenService Description
Dermapen 4|Introduction of minimally invasive rejuvenation therapy
Procedure Overview and Certification Rationale
Based on the core principle of Percutaneous Collagen Induction (PCI), the microneedle treatment creates a large number of micro-channels in the skin through the use of precision electric microneedles, triggering the body's natural cascade of trauma repair, which in turn systematically rebuilds the structure of the dermis.
The Dermapen 4 (approved name: "Ikumi" Dermapen) introduced by Aresin has passed three international certifications: FDA, CE, and TFDA. It is the only microneedle therapy device in Taiwan that has the above certifications at the same time, and has been granted a Class II medical device license, which requires that it be operated by a physician.
Treatment Machines
After microneedle puncture, the skin initiates a wound repair cascade: platelets and growth factors (PDGF, FGF, etc.) are released, fibroblasts are activated, and collagen and elastin fibers are reorganized and proliferated. The proliferation period is about 7 to 14 days, and the complete improvement effect is gradually visible from 4 to 6 weeks after surgery.
At the same time, the micro-channels formed by the microneedles can significantly enhance the efficiency of transdermal penetration of externally applied active ingredients, so that peptides, growth factors, hyaluronic acid and other restorative essence can reach the dermis layer directly to enhance the overall effectiveness of the treatment.
Equipment Core Technology
The Dermapen 4 is equipped with 16 fine needles that can make up to 1,920 vertical punctures per second. The depth of penetration can be precisely adjusted from 0.2mm to 3.0mm to 0.1mm, which can be flexibly set according to the treatment site and the depth of the lesion.
The AOVN (Advanced Oscillating Vertical Needling) technology adopts a vertical puncture design, which is different from the traditional roller-type angled puncture, and effectively reduces pain during the treatment process, as well as postoperative redness and swelling, shortening the recovery period. The device is equipped with RFID chip syringes and disposable needles, eliminating the risk of cross-infection.
Indications
Clinical indications include: acne pits and various types of acne scars, enlarged pores, rough and dull skin, small wrinkles and mild relaxation, post-surgical scars and stretch marks; localized hyperplastic scars can also be treated with medication injections.
It has also been clinically documented as a complementary treatment for problems such as liver spots, rose spots (rosacea) and ingrown hairs, and can be used in conjunction with mainstream treatments such as electrolysis, chemical peels and hydrafacial injections to achieve a more comprehensive and long-lasting improvement.
Matching Therapy
Differences in orientation from other treatments
Microneedle pen vs traditional roller microneedle: Although both are "microneedles", there is a significant difference between the generations. Traditional rollers are manually operated, creating far fewer micro-channels in 5 minutes than the hundreds of thousands created by an electric microneedle pen, and the angled rolling method creates irregular pulling on the skin, resulting in uneven results and a higher pain level.
Treatment Planning Suggestions
The recommended intervals and frequency for each indication are as follows, with actual planning to be evaluated by a physician based on individual skin conditions: acne scars every 6 to 8 weeks, 4 to 6 times recommended; anti-aging and regeneration every 6 to 8 weeks, 4 to 8 times recommended; skin tone brightening and evenness every 2 to 4 weeks, 4 to 6 times recommended; general skin care every 4 to 6 weeks, 3 to 5 times recommended.
Preoperative Preparation and Postoperative Care
Pre-operative: The skin should be kept clean before treatment, and skin care products containing A-acids should be discontinued for at least 3 days. Inform your doctor of your recent history of filler injections (hyaluronic acid, crystalline ceramics, etc.), current medications, and pregnancy or breastfeeding status.
After surgery: After the treatment, the skin is particularly sensitive and should be protected from prolonged sun exposure with a highly effective sunscreen to minimize the risk of hyperpigmentation. At the same time, avoid scrubbing or rubbing the treated area and follow your doctor's instructions for aftercare. Avoid hot springs, steam baths or swimming for 3 days after the procedure. Use mild cleansers and stop using acid, scrubs or alcohol-based skin care products.
contraindication
Active acne or skin infections, crabs, severe eczema or active roseola, herpes outbreaks, and those receiving anticoagulant medication must be carefully evaluated by a physician before scheduling a course of treatment. Persons under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a legal guardian and sign a consent form.

Dermapen 4 Derma MicropenEffects and Indications
With its exclusive 16-needle tip and digital depth control, the Dermapen 4 microneedle pen works precisely on the dermis to create a minimally invasive start-up effect, inducing massive collagen and elastin fibers regeneration:
- Deep Scar Repair: For depressed acne scars, ice-pick scars, and surgical scars, the fibrous tissue is loosened and reconstructed.
- Pore and Skin Refinement: Reduces large pores, improves skin roughness, minimizes fine lines, and enhances the skin's delicate touch.
- Pigmentation & Dullness Improvement: Aids in lightening liver spots, pigmentation and provides a more even and radiant skin tone.
- Stretch Marks and Fat Lines: Targets the body's lines for deep damage and repair, restoring skin firmness.
Dermapen 4 Derma MicropenDescription of the treatment process
- Doctor's professional assessment: The doctor observes the depth of skin damage (e.g. acne scars) and plans the depth (0.2mm - 3.0mm) and speed of the treatment.
- Cleaning and pre-procedure preparation: Deep cleansing of the face. As the microneedles create tiny pores, a surface numbing is applied to ensure a comfortable procedure.
- Precision Microneedling: The Dermapen 4 pen is operated by the physician and swept over the skin in a vertical vibrating motion. The process can be combined with growth factors or serums to achieve deeper absorption than 80% through the tiny pores.
- Post-operative recovery: The treatment takes about 20-30 minutes. After surgery, the skin will have a redness similar to a sunburn with a trace amount of pitting and bleeding, and the caregiver will sedate and moisturize the skin to speed up the redness reduction.
Dermapen 4 Derma MicropenRecommended Treatments
- PLT Growth Factor Crystallization|Upgraded version PRP: 【Golden Set】 PLT is delivered directly into the dermis through microneedle holes to dramatically multiply collagen regeneration and shorten the acne scar repair period.
- JUVELOOK: Introduced with a small wizard needle, it provides immediate filling and long-lasting repair for shallow pits and pores.
- IV Therapy: Post-operation with Dicentralex or high mono Vitamin C drops, which provide repairing materials from the inside, so that the redness and swelling will subside faster after the operation.

Dermapen 4 Derma MicropenFrequently Asked Questions
Q1: What is the difference between Dermapen 4 and traditional roller microneedle?
Conventional rollers are angled in and out, which tends to tear tissue and cause unnecessary wounds; the Dermapen 4 is vertical in and out, resulting in smaller wounds, less pain, and precise control of depth, for superior safety and results.
Q2: How many times do I need to do it before it is effective? How long is the interval?
For normal skin type, 2-3 treatments are recommended; for severe acne scars, 5-8 treatments are recommended. We recommend 4-6 weeks between treatments to allow sufficient time for collagen growth.
Q3: Will there be "blood all over the face" or a long recovery period after surgery?
On the day after surgery, there will be obvious redness and bleeding, which is a normal healing reaction. This is a normal healing reaction. Usually, the redness and swelling will subside considerably within 24-48 hours, and tiny flakes of skin may flake off from the 3rd day onwards, with full recovery within about a week.
Q4:What should I pay attention to for home care after surgery?
Avoid touching raw water for 24 hours after surgery (saline solution can be used). Do not exfoliate, use acid or whitening products for one week, and moisturize and use physical sun protection (umbrellas/hats).
